Old market reopens as a weekend food and music hub

Live bands, street food and craft stalls are bringing crowds back to a forgotten corner of town.

A market that stood half empty for years now draws thousands of visitors every weekend, after reopening as a food and music hub.

More than 50 stalls sell food from across the country, from pepper soup to grilled fish. A small stage hosts live bands on Saturday and Sunday evenings.

Traders who stayed through the quiet years say business has never been better.

The council repaired the roof and lighting and gave stalls to young cooks at low rent for the first year.

Organisers plan a monthly craft fair and a children's corner from next month.
