Why the new constituency map has residents talking
Three neighbourhoods will vote in a different constituency at the next election. Here is what changes.
The electoral commission has published a new constituency map that moves three neighbourhoods into a neighbouring seat.
The commission says the change balances the number of voters in each constituency, which had drifted apart as new estates were built.
Some residents worry that they will lose touch with the representative they know. Others say the old boundaries no longer made sense.
Under the new map, each constituency has between 210,000 and 230,000 registered voters. The largest gap before the change was more than 90,000.
Residents can comment on the map until the end of the month. The commission will hold public meetings in each affected area.
