Five things to watch as the central bank meets this week
Interest rates, the exchange rate and food prices are all on the table.
The central bank's meets on Tuesday and Wednesday. Here is what borrowers, savers and businesses should watch.
First, the interest rate. Most analysts expect the committee to hold its benchmark rate, but a small rise is possible if inflation stays high.
Second, food prices. Food makes up a large part of the inflation figure, and the rainy season usually pushes some prices up.
Third, the exchange rate, and whether the bank signals any change to how it supports the currency. Fourth, lending to small businesses. Fifth, what the bank says about the months ahead.
The decision will be announced on Wednesday afternoon. We will carry it as soon as it is out.
